with textile artist, Jordan Maxwell, from SALT Textiles
Colours and fabrics are filling our homes and lives! From our clothes to the bedsheets, towels, dishcloths, tablecloths, furniture, rugs, curtains... they are a major part of our day-to-day lives. And the reality is that most fabrics and colours these days are mass-produced, full of toxins, creating significant issues of pollution (interior, environmental) and are disconnected from the culture, land, people stories they once told...
This course is a one-of-a-kind immersive online creative course, sharing the fundaments of natural hand-dyeing at home, in a modern, comprehensive and aesthetic way, with textile artist Jordan Maxwell, from SALT Textiles.
At the end of this course, you will not only develop a good understanding of the dyeing process and acquire the initial skills to start dyeing a wardrobe of garments (clothes, textiles for the home, large pieces of fabric), but you will also expand your awareness regarding the connection you can slowly cultivate with the natural realm surrounding your house - weaving new stories with the colours and fabrics that will adorn your home.
This is a humble creation, we’ve woven together with a lot of care and devotion, to inspire you to start this beautiful practice at home, with just a few simple tools and plants.
With Love,
Jordan & Laura

Dyeing with local and wild plants allows us to connect to the land in a new way, to spend more time in nature, and open ourselves to what we might sometimes not see. It offers us the possibility to bring colours of the land we live in or care about into our homes – weaving very personal connections and stories.
On this picture, Jordan is wearing a piece of vintage Mallorcan cotton dyed with eucalyptus bark found on the ground just next to our house.
No matter where we live, every land has its own colours, tones. Even in the city, we stumble upon plants every day that boast a variety of colors, sometimes hidden.
In this course, Jordan shares her creative process as she explores the local plants of Mallorca. Working with just a handful of plants like eucalyptus, olive, St. John's wort, and walnuts, she achieves a vibrant color palette ranging from mimosa yellows to saffron yellows, powdery pinks to peachy pinks, and sandy browns to deeper hues.
Just a few barks, nuts picked from the ground, or some flowery tops and branches were all it took to create these dye-baths. After only 3 days, we've managed to dye over 20+ pieces, with their unique tones and colours (scarves, shawls, underwear, and two massive pieces of vintage cotton and wool).
So imagine all the colours that can be created with not only wild plants, but also with food waste, homegrown flowers, dye extracts, etc…
